How Can I Fight Against My Probation?

Question by : How can I fight against my probation?
I’m 22 years old, and I’m on probation for a DUI. I know what I did was wrong and I was stupid but I feel as though my probation is treating me like they shouldn’t. I get off probation is september, I was put on for a year. Everything was going good. I started college, got my own apartment and have a full time job. Never failed a UA, never missed a meeting and never got in trouble while on probation. Until Ilet a girl move in I felt bad for (she was in a bad situation where she was getting beat at home n she needed somewhere to go) so Ilet her stay at my place. About a month later her probation officer came by to do a drug search and they found meth in her room, i freaked out and kicked her out but i also got sanctioned because there was an empty vodka shooter in my room (idk how long it was in there, i forgot about it) they even drug tested me twice and of course i came up clean. I was also in IOP classes, only had 2 weeks left then I would have been done, also had finally paid off my fines. I don’t have a car, so when I went in to talk about my punishment my probation officer decided to leave the decision up to my counselor because i wouldnt be able to get to the probation office every day for a breathalizer, which is what they normally would have done for a first offence on probation. So, my counselor decided to reccomend i go to inpatient treatment. Mind you, she didnt talk to me, get a hold of me…shit shes not even the one to tell me. A different counselor told me when i went to my next iop class. Not to mention i hadent seen her in a few weeks because she was no longer teaching the iop classes. She recomended I go to inpatient treatment which will be a 1-2 month wait and will last 90 days…I’ll lose everything ive been working for. My job, my apartment and Ill miss the first month of school, get dropped out and default on my school loan AND ill be off probation a month before i get out of the treatment center. Whats worse is, now the counselor that reccomended me to inpatient treatment quit her job, and my probation officer that agreed to what she said retired…I think the only reason they decided on this action is because they knew they were leaving and their giva a shit levels were through the floor. But it’s messed up because it’s someone elses life they have in their hands. I tried talking to my new probation officer and he said theres not much he can do about it…this just doesnt seem right. My first offence and they do all this? especially when ill be off probation in a few months? and i know many other people that have messed up on probation numerous times and didnt get this kind of treatment. I dont know what to do? is there any way i can fight this? Please help me…going away for three months will make me lose everything ive been working so hard to gain…makes me feel like there was no use in trying to better my life in the first place.

A DUI is a very serious offense. You’re complaining that they have someone’s life in their hands, but you did too while you were driving while impaired. I feel bad, and maybe it shouldn’t have gone this far, but still… you messed up.
